Football Predictions weekend commencing 1st March 2013

A full Premier League fixture list this weekend and with the title race pretty much over, the focus is on the fight for champions league places.  Chelsea's indifferent form has seen them slip down to 4th place, whilst West Brom are safe in mid table and Predictor has forecast a marginal home win.  Everton's form has also been a bit indifferent and they have slipped behind in the top 4 chase.  On paper, Reading shouldn't cause a problem, although a win may not be as convincing as it may seem.  Liverpool have been flirting with a top 4 challenge but just can't seem to make up the difference.  But despite Wigan's victory last weekend, their home form has been poor of late and Liverpool are favoured an away win.  The big match of the weekend is the North London derby as Arsenal travel to White Hart Lane with the match being huge for both teams.  A Spurs win will see a 7 point gap open between the two, and an Arsenal win will narrow the gap to a point.  Who will come out on top?

A bit of a short comment this week, but I can't go without mentioning El Classico.  Barcelona visit Real Madrid, and although the title race is all but over both teams will not want to lose this game.  Real Madrid's form has improved in recent weeks and Predictor forecasts a home with for Real Madrid.

Please feel free to comment on the predictions or discuss anything football related or alternatively for more football discussion go to www.itsagoal.com.

Lastly, I would appreciate it if you could +1 blog.

Enjoy...!

  1. Bit of a review of the Premier League so far...

Chelsea stepped up the race for champions league places by beaten West Brom at Stamford bridge and move back to third place, although maybe just temporarily. Everton and Manchester United appeared to have more convincing wins against Reading and Norwich respectively. All three of the matches were correctly forecasted by the Predictor.

The next two results didn't go quite to plan as QPR are starting to make a late surge with a win over fellow relegation candidates, Southampton. Can they avoid the drop? Stoke and West Ham were predicted a draw, however, West Ham came away with all three points - barring a collapse of huge proportion, they should be safe. Another draw was predicted for Sunderland and Fulham and this was correctly forecast as both teams couldn't be separated as they drew 2-2.

Newcastle are really struggling to repeat the form of last season and the game against Swansea hasn't changed that. However, Swansea's great season continues with a 1-0 victory that takes them up to 40 points. Lastly, Liverpool were predicted to beat struggling Wigan, but I don't think anyone predicted the 4-0 beating they received. Can Liverpool mount a late challenge for the top 4? Have you say...

To summarise, that's 6 correct predictions out of 8, which is a great return. Well done Predictor...!

It was clash of the titans in the La Liga this afternoon and Barcelona travelled to Real Madrid. Barcelona's recent form hasn't been great and it continued with a loss against their rivals, as predicted.

Please can I ask you to +1 my blog if you've got a spare minute - thanks...!

  2. Only one game in the Premier League, however, it may be a very pivotal game. The North London derby took place at White Hart Lane this afternoon and this game was forecast as a marginal home win. The Predictor was spot on once again with Spurs beating Arsenal by 2 goals to 1 and putting a 7 point gap between the two teams. Spurs have also leapfrogged Chelsea to claim their 3rd place back. So will Arsenal miss out on Champions League football next season? Have your say...

That's 7 correct scores out of 9 for the weekend - an excellent return.

Going back to yesterday's games in the championship, a result which did stand out was Cardiff losing again. They seemed to have the title summed up but will they bottled it? What do you think?

The French league is really heating up as PSG was predicted a pretty convincing away win against Reims, however, they lost 1-0. This opened up the door for Lyon but they could only manage a draw against Brest, which closes the gap to just 2 points.

There's not really a lot to say about the German Bundasliga as Bayern Munich continue to dispatch every team they face, only losing one game all season.

In Serie A the flagship game of the weekend were a battle between the top top, Napoli and Juventus. Napoli really needed the win to close the gap and Predictor forecasted a marginal home win, but they could only manage a draw. Can they make back the difference? What do you think?

I touched on La Liga yesterday, and with Real Madrid beating Barcelona, does these leave the league open? Surely Atletico Madrid can't catch them now, can they? If they win their game in hand that will put them within 8 points.

Anyway, please comment and have your say. Also, if you could +1 my blog I would be very grateful.

    Thanks.
