Football Predictions Champions League Semi Final Special

As we're nearing the end of the season I've decided to adapt the Predictor to see if it can forecast the Champions League Semi Final.  This is the first time I've tried this on a knockout cup match and using teams from difference leagues, so this is a bit of a trial...!

Tonight sees Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund - both of these teams have played second fiddle in their respective domestic campaigns this season, but making it this far in the tournament shows how strong these teams are.  Real Madrid have a three goal deficit to pull back which does seem a lot, however, they have two things on their side.  Firstly, they're at home and you can never write off Real at the Bernabeu, and secondly they do have an important away goal.  Therefore, a 3-0 win will see them through - easy, huh?

Tomorrow's game is also in Spain as Bayern Munich visit the Camp Nou.  Barcelona got ripped apart in Munich, which you don't see often and with a four goal difference to make up this one seems all over.  In addition, I really can't see Bayern not scoring as they've averaged nearly three goals a game in the Bundesliga this season.  One goal from Bayern will require six goals from Barcelona, and with Bayern resting most of their first team last weekend I think there's only one outcome for this match.

Football Predictions weekend commencing 26th April 2013

With the Premier League all but tied up, focus turns to the Champions League chase and the relegation fight.

Everton's hopes of a top four finish is dwindling fast with some mixed form of late, however, Fulham haven't really been doing much better with three losses in their last four league games and a marginal home win is predicted.  Wigan versus Tottenham is an interesting tie as both teams are desperate for wins for different reasons.  Wigan are currently loitering in the relegation zone, three points off safety, whilst Spurs are a couple of points of a champions league spot.  Predictor forecasts that Spurs will be too strong and sees an away win.  Swansea have had another fantastic season, however, with a trophy already in the cabinet and lying in mid table, they seem like they're already on holiday.  They face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and I can't see anything but a comfortable home win to keep their run going.  Arsenal against Manchester Utd is always a feisty affair but with van Persie returning to the Emirates with recently crowned champions, United, that will definitely add some fire to the tie.  Arsenal's form has been red hot recently which has seen them climb into 3rd place, and this has given them the edge over United and a marginal home win is predicted.  Villa, along with Wigan are also in a relegation scrap and they face re-vitalised, Sunderland at Villa Park.  However, Villa's form hasn't been too shabby either of late and the predictor could not split the teams and a draw is forecast.

Top picks for the weekend start, as usual, at Bayern Munich.  In my opinion they're the best team in the world at the moment and are steam rolling everyone.  Frieburg are no mugs but a free flowing Bayern is no match and another drubbing is predicted.  The other two convincing wins are in the Dutch league with Vitesse against bottom of the league, Willem II.  Also in the second tier, Cambuur are flying high and are also predicted a convincing win.

Another interesting match which has caught my attention is Nurnberg away to Hoffenheim.  Hoffenheim are in the relegation zone and with odds of 5/2 for an away win, that's the value pick of the weekend.
