Weekend commening 18th January 2013

Well, well, well - we do have a cold weekend.  Okay, so when I ran the predictor yesterday these were the games that were still on.  I'm well aware a number have been called off and I reckon there's more games to be called off in the morning, but here's the predictions as they came out.

I would hope that all the Premier League games would still be played and we have a lower league clash with Newcastle hosting Reading, however, both teams are on equally bad at the moment and can't be split with the predictor returning a draw.  It's super Sunday and the opener is the London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal with Chelsea predicted as coming out as the victors.  The afternoon offering is Spurs playing at home to Manchester Utd.  This clash has always provided stacks of goals.  Will Spurs repeat their heroics at Old Trafford - apparently not.

    Okay, so a bit of a review of the weekend so far...

    The prediction of a Liverpool win against Norwich was indeed correct, however, with Liverpool's indifferent form only a marginal win was predicted, not the 5-0 drubbing that took place. Manchester City were looking good for a convincing win against Fulham who's form away from home has been very poor in recent seasons, however, the prediction was correct despite the victory being only by 2 goals.

    That followed an incorrect predictions for Newcastle at home to Reading as Newcastle's form goes from bad to worse. Swansea did the business against Stoke as Laudrup's good start to Premier League management continues.

    West Ham were predicted to edge out a victory against QPR but Redknapp's team continue to show improvement and keep notching up points. My biggest call of the weekend was Sunderland to beat Wigan away - both teams not exactly setting the world on fire. However, the predictor saw something in Sunderland to give them the away victory they got.

    Aston Villa's pretty dire form has been well documented as of late, so to get a draw away from home against midland's rivals, West Brom, was, I'm sure, a welcome change.

    That leads us on to Sunday's games which kicked off with the London derby - Chelsea versus Arsenal. The predictor returned a marginal home win for Chelsea, and that's what happened 2-1 to Chelsea. Spurs hosted Manchester Utd and a marginal away win was predicted. This was looking good for 93 minutes until Spurs popped up with the equaliser in Fergie time.
