So, the last set of predictions before Christmas! This is the period which often shapes the rest of the season as games really come thick and fast. Also, I'm not sure how many posts I'm going to get out over the festive break as, although there's games on boxing day, that will mean me having to work on the predictions on Christmas day. Sorry guys, it's not going to happen! However, there might be some sporadic ones here and there so please watch this space!
Anyway, back to this weekend. It seems like every week there feels like a big game on the agenda and this weekend is no different. Maybe that's due to the how open the Premier League is this season and proves how exciting English football is! The Saturday lunch time match kicks off with Liverpool at home to Cardiff. Liverpool must have their tails up after putting four past Spurs whilst off the pitch issues seem to dominate the headlines for Cardiff at the moment. As far as I know they still have a manager but that seems quite short lived. With Suarez on blistering form and Cardiff seemingly in a bit of turmoil I can't see anything but Liverpool adding to their woes. Convincing home win.
Manchester City travel to a Fulham side that find themselves second from bottom. Having sacked Martin Jol they need a decent festive period to get on track but it doesn't come any more difficult than a rampant Manchester City side. City's home form has been phenomenal, putting six past current Premier League leaders, Arsenal, last weekend, however, their away form has been somewhat questionable at times. Although, I really can't see anything but a decent City win. On the other side of Manchester, United host West Ham. It's difficult to know what United side is going to turn out as just when you think they're going to put a few results together they have some shockers. The title race is probably over for them but Champions League would undoubtedly be a minimum. Home win.
Southampton versus Tottenham is an interesting fixture, especially with the recent sacking of manager, AVB. Tim Sherwood takes charge of his first Premier League game for Spurs after suffering defeat in the league cup against West Ham midweek. However, it's difficult to predict how a team reacts after a sacking. Both teams had a great start to the season but they've both struggled in recent games. Predictor reckons it'll be a close affair but Southampton to just edge it. The flagship match of the weekend is at the Emirates as Arsenal face title rivals, Chelsea. Arsenal need to bounce back after conceding six against City last weekend, meanwhile, a win for Chelsea could potentially take them top. I think this game is pivotal for Arsenal as a loss may see their title hopes start slipping with Manchester City also breathing down their necks, whereas a win might prove their title credentials. Predictor forecasts a draw.
